Volleyball Recap: Centennial's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

After flying high against Ironwood last Monday, Centennial came back down to earth. The Coyotes came up short against the ALA - Queen Creek Patriots on Wednesday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Coyotes have suffered since March 13th.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: ALA - Queen Creek scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-19, 25-18.

ALA - Queen Creek can attribute much of their success to Hayden Holman, who had 15 digs.

The defeat snapped Centennial's winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 11-5 record. As for ALA - Queen Creek, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centennial will challenge Kellis at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Cougars have played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for ALA - Queen Creek, they will face off against ALA - Gilbert North at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight.
