Soccer Recap: Oglethorpe County Takes a Loss

If Oglethorpe County was riding high fresh off their 5-0 takedown of Banks County last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Oglethorpe County Patriots lost 7-0 to the Athens Academy Spartans on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Patriots of the 1-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Oglethorpe County's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Athens Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.

Coincidentally, Oglethorpe County and Athens Academy will both be playing Elbert County the next time they take the pitch. Athens Academy will host Elbert County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Oglethorpe County will host them at 5:30 p.m. on March 21st.
