Volleyball Recap: Rancho San Juan Takes a Loss

Rancho San Juan suffered their biggest loss since April 11, 2024 on Wednesday. They lost 3-0 to the Seaside Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 last Wednesday.

While Rancho San Juan was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Seaside's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-23, 26-24.

Ricardo Owen-Regalado paced Rancho San Juan's offense, picking up six kills. Owen-Regalado got some help from Brandon Quiambao and his 19 assists. Owen-Regalado was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.

Rancho San Juan has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. The win (which was Seaside's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Rancho San Juan will head out to challenge Scotts Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Seaside, they will square off against Everett Alvarez at 6:00 p.m. on March 19th.
