Baseball Recap: Ocoee Extends Winning Streak to Three

Ocoee had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wekiva Mustangs, sneaking past 7-5. For the Knights, this counts as revenge for the 7-3 victory the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Bryson Gray was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Elijah Jimenez was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Ocoee's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-11 when he doesn't). Joser Retana was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Ocoee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Ocoee now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Wekiva, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-16.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Ocoee beat the Mustangs by a score of 6-2 on Thursday.
