Volleyball Recap: Minerva's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

After flying high against Salem on Tuesday, Minerva came back down to earth. The Lions took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marlington Dukes on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dukes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on September 2nd.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-27, 25-11, 25-16.

Despite the loss, Minerva still got an impressive performance from Jenna Dowell, who had ten digs and two assists. Dowell is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last four games she's played. Gracie Momirov-Dierick also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Minerva's defeat ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-9. As for Marlington, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

Minerva has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Indian Valley on the 20th. As for Marlington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Salem on the 23rd.
