Basketball Recap: West Mesquite Takes a Loss

West Mesquite suffered their biggest loss since December 10, 2024 on Tuesday. They came up short against the North Mesquite Stallions, falling 50-29. The Wranglers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Stallions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Syniyah Grigsby continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for North Mesquite, dropping a double-double on 33 points and 15 boards. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Grigsby has scored at least a third of North Mesquite's points. Another player making a difference was Haven Crabb, who posted two points and six assists.

West Mesquite's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for North Mesquite, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-13.

The future could be bright for both West Mesquite and North Mesquite: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. West Mesquite will try to hand Samuell their fifth-straight defeat when the two meet at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, North Mesquite will try to hand Spruce their third-straight loss when the two meet at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
