1A Western Slope recap Oct. 16, 2012
Cedaredge extended the longest winning streak in 1A Western Slope this week by beating Meeker, 39-13. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Paonia took down Lake County 52-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Hotchkiss's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Josh Hardin threw for 65 and one touchdown and Colton Farmer had 28 yards receiving. On the ground Jacobe Galley chipped in 129 yards. Galley helped Hotchkiss' passing attack out by catching two balls for 17 yards.
Galley made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Bulldogs bested Roaring Fork. The senior grabbed one interception.
On the ground, Hotchkiss' Galley has rushed for 1267 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Conner Beard. The Hotchkiss star has 11 catches for 324 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Eagles take on Zac Lemon's team. At the moment, Paonia is in third, while the Bulldogs are in second.
The Cowboys made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,944 from 13,165. The advance stemmed from a 39-13 victory over Meeker last week.
