It may have taken triple overtime to finish the job, but Boardman ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They slipped by the Chaney Cowboys 35-34. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cowboys, too.

Chaney's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Asuante Mickel, who rushed for 158 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 185 yards and one TD while completing 76% of his passes. Another back making a difference was Dewayne Thompsom, who gained 118 total yards and two touchdowns.

Boardman's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Chaney, they now also have a losing record of 1-2.

Boardman didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 36-20 victory against Maple Heights on the 12th. As for Chaney, they have also already played their next contest, a 27-6 defeat against West Branch on the 12th.
