Football Game Preview: Carl Albert Titans vs. Guthrie Bluejays

Carl Albert is 9-1 against Guthrie since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Titans will be playing at home against the Bluejays at 7:00 p.m. Carl Albert knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Guthrie likes a good challenge.

Carl Albert's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Lawton 49-0. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won seven contests by 33 points or more so far this season.

Delijah Matthews was his usual excellent self, rushing for 270 yards and four scores while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Those 270 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Darion Thomas, who rushed for 78 yards and one TD on only six carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Carl Albert was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 378 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 162 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Guthrie entered their tilt with Altus on Friday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 41-35 W against the Bulldogs.

Guthrie didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Rowan McHone.

Carl Albert's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Guthrie, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.

Carl Albert took their win against Guthrie in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 30-6 score. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bluejays turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
