Basketball Recap: Old Fort Extends Winning Streak to Six

Old Fort came tearing into Monday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past the Calvert Senecas 67-65. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Stockaders have posted against the Senecas since January 19, 2021.

Calvert's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grady Otterbacher, who went 9 for 16 from beyond the arc on his way to 29 points and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Otterbacher a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Wagner, who went 9 of 14 on his way to 20 points and eight rebounds.

Old Fort pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.3 points per game. As for Calvert, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-2.

Old Fort will venture away from home to challenge Gibsonburg at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Old Fort knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Gibsonburg likes a good challenge. As for Calvert, they will challenge St. Paul at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in St. Paul's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
