Volleyball Game Preview: Sweetwater Mustangs vs. San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy Eagles

The Sweetwater Mustangs will head out to challenge the San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Sweetwater needed a changed in momentum after dropping three straight matches and they got it from Lexi Maestas. The Mustangs put the hurt on Grape Creek with a sharp 3-0 win on Tuesday with plenty of help from Maestas, who had 13 digs and two assists. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last five games she's played.

While Sweetwater won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-23, 25-14.

Meanwhile, San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy hadn't done well against Sonora recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Eagles walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Broncos.

San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the first set). The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-17, 17-25, 25-16.

The victory got Sweetwater back to even at 17-17. As for San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy, their record is now 21-9.

Sweetwater suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy when the teams last played back in September. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
