Football Preview: Eureka Tornadoes vs. Humboldt Cubs

Eureka is 1-9 against Humboldt since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Eureka Tornadoes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Humboldt Cubs at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated after three-games, but that won't be the case come Friday.

Peyton Hare went supernova for Eureka, rushing for 83 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 95 yards and two touchdowns. Hare also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making nine total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending a pass. Tj Mills was Hare's top target, picking up 62 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Eureka wouldn't let Cherryvale keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Eureka can thank Easton Mead and Tanner Biering for forcing both of them.

Meanwhile, while Humboldt put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Erie. Humboldt blew past Erie, posting a 68-0 win on the road.

Mason Sterling had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 57 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, and also picked up 45 receiving yards. Logan Page was another key player, gaining 24 total yards and two touchdowns.

Humboldt's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Ty Shaughnessy and Page. What's more, Page also racked up 15 rushing yards, the mosthe's had since back in September of 2023.
