Basketball Recap: Mcdonough Extends Winning Streak to Four

McDonough waltzed into their contest on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 55-53 victory over the Jones County Greyhounds. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warhawks have posted since December 20, 2024.

Zion Greene continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 of 13 en route to 21 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Kerrington Moore, who posted six points in addition to eight assists and three steals.

Several Greyhounds players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayden Tolbert, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Tolbert a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Wold, who went 5 of 12 en route to 14 points.

McDonough is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Jones County, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-16.

McDonough wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 85-55 victory against Locust Grove on the 4th. Jones County has also already played their next contest (against Union Grove), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
