Football Recap: Battery Creek Falls to Hilton Head Christian Academy in First Game of Season

Battery Creek had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost to the Hilton Head Christian Academy Eagles on the road by a 36-20 margin. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Reid McCollum went supernova For Hilton Head Christian Academy., throwing for 220 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 97 yards. What's more, McCollum racked up 138.9 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Joseph Houpt, who picked up 91 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Hilton Head Christian Academy pushed their record up to 1-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Battery Creek will venture away from home to face off against John Paul II at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hilton Head Christian Academy, they will face off against Bethesda Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
