Recap: Mount Union Trojans vs. McConnellsburg Spartans

The Mount Union Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. The match between Mount Union and McConnellsburg wasn't particularly close, with Mount Union falling 51-32. While losing is never fun, Mount Union can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 688th, while McConnellsburg is ranked 309th).

McConnellsburg's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shaffer Earley, who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dom Jefferson, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Mount Union's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for McConnellsburg, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mount Union will take on Curwensville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Curwensville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Thursday. As for McConnellsburg, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southern Fulton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Ethan Mellott and Brayden Ramsey.
