Celina High School Football is the team behind the movie "ThePower, Passion and Glory", a documentary that followed the Celina Bobcats as they won four State Championships in a row (1998-2001).  With this year’s state championship, theBobcats now hold eight State Titles.  Noone else in the State of Texas has matched this achievement.

On Saturday, January 19, we were in Celina, Texasto honor the Bobcats.  The16-0 Bobcats were nationally ranked #52 overall from over16,000 schools.  There was orange and white as far as the eye could see that day on the Pecan Street Square.

The coaches, players, drill team, and cheerleaders departed at 10:00 am from the high school and parade-style made their way to the downtown square, where they were met with deafening cheers and applause from the huge crowd of  friends, family, and fans, who braved the chilly morning temperatures to join in celebrating the team’s successful season.

Trae O’Bar with the Texas Army National Guard welcomed the enthusiastic crowd and introduced Buddy Carlisle of MaxPreps.  At which point, Coach Butch Ford was presented with the Tour of Champions National Ranking trophy.  Coach Ford praised his team’s hard work, thanked everyone for supporting the Bobcats, and graciously accepted this honor.

Afterward, photographs were captured and the commemorativeArmy National Guard/Tour of Champions t-shirts, mini footballs, and iPod speakers were distributed to all the players. Then the crowd was welcomed to partake in the memorabilia, and because Guardsmen Trey, John, and Daniel came prepared, there was plenty to go around.  Lastly, the media – most notably NBC Channel 5 - interviewed Coach Butch Ford.

The 3rd annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard was a celebratory event that was high energy from start to finish and fun was had by all!
