Softball Recap: Bangor Gets the Win

Bangor barely beat Messalonskee the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rams' pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 13-0 shutout on Monday. With that win, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Emma Tripp was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Annabelle Pierce was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Gabby Spreng was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Bangor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Messalonskee only posted an OBP of .000.

The victory got Bangor back to even at 2-2. As for Messalonskee, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.
