Football Game Preview: Fairfield Mules vs. Flora Wolves + How To Watch

Fairfield is a perfect 4-0 against Flora since September of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mules will challenge the Wolves at 7:00 p.m. Fairfield has given up an average of 25.5 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Fairfield managed to keep up with Johnston City until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Mules came up short against the Indians, falling 46-22. While losing is never fun, the Mules can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 206th, while the Indians are ranked 57th).

Fairfield might have lost, but man, Michael Barner was a machine: he rushed for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Barner is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 116 every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Flora beat Eldorado 28-22 on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.

Flora's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Fairfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Fairfield strolled past Flora in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 20-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mules since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
