Football Recap: Central East Snags Two Interceptions Passes in Defeat + How To Watch

After flying high against Inglewood last Friday, Central East came back down to earth. The Bengals received a blow on Friday as they fell 42-26 to the Grant Pacers. The Bengals were down 42-20 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Central East lost, don't look at Jelani Dippel. Despite the final result, he threw for 290 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt.

Central East didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Zachary Goodwin and Lonzo Jenkins, who each picked up one interception apiece. Central East got some further help from Chris Perry: he made 15 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended one pass.

Thorne Watson had an outrageously good game for Grant as he rushed for 105 yards and three scores on only 14 carries. Another player making a difference was Shiren Crump, who threw for 361 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 13.9 yards per attempt.

Central East's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Grant, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.

Central East and Grant should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Bengals (ranked 21st) will meet Turlock (ranked 103rd) at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Grant will square off against Cardinal Newman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (18 vs. 99).
