Baseball Recap: Midway Snags 11th Victory in Last 12 Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Midway walked away with it. They walked away with a 4-0 win over the East Carteret Mariners on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Raiders also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.

East Carteret's batters probably weren't too happy with Tanner Williams, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (he gave up zero walks).

On the hitting side, Midway's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Herring, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Carson Tew was another, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Midway is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, East Carteret fell to 26-1.

Coming up, Midway will challenge SouthWest Edgecombe on Friday. The last six games the Cougars have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. East Carteret does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
