Red Oak beats Killeen for their eighth straight win

Recap: Red Oak Hawks vs. Killeen Kangaroos

The Red Oak Hawks put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They strolled past Killeen with points to spare, taking the game 56-37. Given Red Oak's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 51st, while Killeen is ranked 252nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chris Martinez jr continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 262 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry, and also picking up 35 receiving yards. Martinez jr's longest rush was for an incredible 85 yards. Another player making a difference was Reggie Moody, who threw for 263 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76% of his passes.

Killeen's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tekoree Landours, who picked up 143 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Timothy Boatner, who gained 110 total yards and two touchdowns.

Red Oak's win was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Cleburne and 1-7 Waco (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 42.4% over those games). As for Killeen, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.

Red Oak will head out on the road to face off against Granbury at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Granbury is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. As for Killeen, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Shoemaker at 7:00 p.m.
