Baseball Recap: Circle Christian Comes Up Short

Circle Christian was the 7-2 winner over Crooms Academy when they last played one another last Thursday, but their luck changed this time around. The Centurions fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 11-9 on Thursday. The Centurions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kyler Chapdelain was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Fraser Ewen and Grant Lion stepped up to the plate in a big way. Ewen scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Lion scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Circle Christian is 3-1 when Lion posts two or more runs, but 2-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was DJ Williams, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.

Circle Christian's record now sits at 5-14. As for Crooms Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-9.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Circle Christian will take on Lake Mary Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Centurions are facing the Griffins at the right time seeing as the Griffins are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Crooms Academy, they will challenge Lake Highland Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: the Highlanders will have lost three straight heading into Monday's match.
