Softball Recap: Jefferson Cougars vs. Washington Patriots
Jefferson faced Washington in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Cougars came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 9-4. Nine seems to be a good number for the Cougars as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Becca Munslow was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Chloe Cowan was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and one double while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Graclyn Dodson, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
The win (which was Jefferson's third in a row) raised their record to 20-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Washington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-6.
