Softball Recap: Hampden Wins Going Away Against Lewiston

Hampden won the last time they faced Lewiston and things went their way on Saturday too. The Broncos were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Blue Devils. With that win, the Broncos brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Cat Facchini made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Facchini was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Hampden got a massive performance out of Khloe Hellum, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. Hellum also scored a run, marking her first of the season. Kiera Gabric was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Hampden was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .436. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Hampden's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Lewiston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Hampden will host Messalonskee at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Lewiston, they will venture away from home to challenge Oak Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
