Basketball Recap: Heritage Starts off Right with Win over Mountain View

Heritage had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They took their game with ease, bagging a 50-19 victory over the Mountain View Mountain Lions.

Skylar Peterson was nothing short of spectacular: she posted ten points in addition to eight assists and seven steals. Caroline Belair was another key player, going 7-for-14 on her way to 14 points and six steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Heritage was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain View only posted three.

Despite the loss, Mountain View saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Izzy Tonniges scored six points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Roberts, who put up seven points.

Looking ahead, Heritage will square off against Canon City at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mountain View, they will face off against Pomona at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
