Basketball Recap: Emmetsburg's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Ten

Emmetsburg came tearing into Friday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 64-58 victory over the Pocahontas Indians. Given the E'Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Indians are ranked 292nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Emmetsburg's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Pocahontas, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Emmetsburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 45-37 victory against South O'Brien on the 25th. As for Pocahontas, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Southeast Valley at 7:45 p.m. Pocahontas is facing Southeast Valley at the right time seeing as Southeast Valley is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
