Preview: Poinciana Eagles vs. Olympia Titans
The Poinciana Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Olympia Titans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Olympia took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Poinciana, who comes in off a win.
Poinciana can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They walked away with a 44-33 victory over Osceola. The win was just what Poinciana needed coming off of a 56-18 defeat in their prior game.
Meanwhile, Olympia fought the good fight in their overtime match against East Ridge on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 64-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Arlinda Roundtree, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Pazos, who scored 17 points.
Poinciana's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-7. As for Olympia, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Poinciana came up short against Olympia in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 48-36. Can Poinciana avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
