Baseball Recap: Edgewater Extends Winning Streak to Three

With a playoff win on the line, Edgewater rose to the challenge on Monday. They came out on top against the Leesburg Yellow Jackets by a score of 8-5. The victory was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won three games in a row.

Ethan Quill looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Jayden Benfer was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nicholas Collins, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Edgewater's win bumped their record up to 15-11. As for Leesburg, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season.

Edgewater will face off against Winter Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. Leesburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
