Basketball Recap: Josh Cundiff and Ernie Laulu Secure Win for Taft

After losing to Shafter the last time they met, Taft decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Taft Wildcats came out on top against the Shafter Generals by a score of 43-35 on Friday. The 43-point effort marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Leading Taft to victory were Ernie Laulu and Josh Cundiff. Laulu almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards, while Cundiff went 6 of 10 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds. Laulu's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Taft has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. As for Shafter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.

Taft wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 54-52 defeat against Kennedy on the 29th. Shafter has also already played their next contest, a 76-49 loss against McFarland on the 28th.
