Baseball Recap: Edmonds-Woodway's Winning Streak Snapped at Eight Games

It was a good run, but Edmonds-Woodway unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Stanwood Spartans by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in April.

Declan Crawford was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Edmonds-Woodway saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lukas Wanke, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Edmonds-Woodway's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Stanwood, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4.

Looking ahead, Edmonds-Woodway will square off against Shorewood at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Stormrays have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. Stanwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
