Preview: Valmeyer Pirates vs. Red Bud Musketeers
After three games on the road, Valmeyer is heading back home. They will take on the Red Bud Musketeers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Valmeyer focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, it was a hard-fought game, but Valmeyer had to settle for a 40-37 loss against Steeleville.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ava Reeves, who scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Avery Proffer was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds.
In what's become a running theme this season, Red Bud gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They breezed by New Athens at home to the tune of 61-13. Winning may never get old, but Red Bud sure is getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Valmeyer has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season. As for Red Bud, they pushed their record up to 21-7 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
Things could have been worse for Valmeyer, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-41 loss to Red Bud in their previous meeting back in January of 2023.
