Softball Game Preview: Point Pleasant Beach Garnet Gulls vs. Toms River South Indians

The Point Pleasant Beach Garnet Gulls will challenge the Toms River South Indians at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Point Pleasant Beach will be strutting in after a victory while Toms River South will be coming in after a loss.

On Friday, Point Pleasant Beach beat Trinity Hall 6-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Garnet Gulls.

Lucia Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Vivian Anderson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with five stolen bases and two runs. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Mia Orozco was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three games, Toms River South finally came back down to earth on Monday. They lost 15-2 to Toms River North. Surprisingly, this marked the Indians' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Abbey Wilber made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Point Pleasant Beach's win bumped their record up to 2-10. As for Toms River South, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-8.
