Basketball Recap: Asheboro Hybrid Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Asheboro Hybrid Academy had won two straight games and Levi Gaskins did his part to make it three on Tuesday. The Asheboro Hybrid Academy Warriors enjoyed a cozy 62-44 victory over the Sheets Memorial Christian Eagles thanks in part to Gaskins, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 25 rebounds. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Autry, who posted seven points in addition to seven steals and five boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game.

Despite the defeat, Sheets Memorial Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jude Howell had 11 points and five steals. Howell is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Aiden McMahan was another key player, putting up eight points and eight rebounds.

Asheboro Hybrid Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Sheets Memorial Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Asheboro Hybrid Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 79-58 defeat against Gospel Light Christian on the 30th. Sheets Memorial Christian has also already played their next game, an 85-50 loss against North Hills Christian on the 30th.
