Baseball Recap: J.R. Tucker Takes a Loss

If J.R. Tucker was riding high fresh off their 10-3 takedown of Highland Springs last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers lost 16-2 to the Glen Allen Jaguars on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in March.

Joey Noel was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Caleb Wood, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

J.R. Tucker's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Glen Allen, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

J.R. Tucker and Glen Allen could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Tigers will take on Freeman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (261 vs. 53). Meanwhile, Glen Allen (ranked 49th) will meet Godwin (ranked sixth) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
