Softball Recap: Morristown-Hamblen East Has No Trouble Against Chuckey-Doak

Morristown-Hamblen East never let their opponents score on Saturday. They blew past the Chuckey-Doak Black Knights 9-0. The result was nothing new for the Hurricanes, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ella Wampler and Jaycee Hamilton made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Wampler pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hamilton tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. Wampler has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Wampler went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Hamilton went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those four RBI gave Wampler a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Combs, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Harmony Sullivan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Morristown-Hamblen East hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Morristown-Hamblen East is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Chuckey-Doak, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Coincidentally, Morristown-Hamblen East and Chuckey-Doak will both be playing Union County the next time they take the field. The Hurricanes will head out to face the Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the Black Knights will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
