Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Highlands Christian). They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pine Crest Panthers on Thursday, sneaking past 24-23. The high-scoring effort was just what the Knights needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Samantha Hopkins was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, five stolen bases, and three runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Destiny Bautista, who scored five runs and stole Four bases. while going 3-for-4.

Hopkins wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Highlands Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.

Highlands Christian's win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Pine Crest, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Highlands Christian will take on Pine Crest at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pine Crest, they will square off against Miami Country Day at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Pine Crest has given up an average of 21.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
