Softball Recap: Moon Area Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Moon Area challenged Upper St. Clair on Wednesday. The Tigers fell 6-3 to the Panthers. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

Katie DeMarco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sydney Ray was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Moon Area's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Upper St. Clair, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moon Area will host Thomas Jefferson at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Upper St. Clair, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Southmoreland at 6:00 p.m.
