Basketball Recap: Keys Gate Takes a Loss

After soaring to 58 points the game before, Keys Gate was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They were outmatched by the Somerset Academy Panthers and fell 72-24. The Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-13.

Somerset Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xavier Anderson led the charge by going 5 for 7 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds. Christian Smith was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points and four steals.

Keys Gate moved to 4-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Somerset Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Keys Gate will venture away from home to challenge Dade Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dade Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Keys Gate likes a good challenge. As for Somerset Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Calusa Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
