Football Recap: Santa Fe Catholic Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Santa Fe Catholic put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Canterbury Cougars by a score of 17-7. For the Hawks, this counts as revenge for the 42-13 victory the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2023.

Leading Santa Fe Catholic to victory were Zyrell Thomas and Reagan Korlacki. Thomas rushed for 145 yards and one TD on only 11 carries, while Korlacki rushed for 151 yards while picking up 8.4 yards per carry.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Santa Fe Catholic was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 298 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Santa Fe Catholic's defense and their three sacks. Bertran Bates refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

Santa Fe Catholic's record now sits at 3-0. As for Canterbury, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santa Fe Catholic is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Foundation Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Canterbury, they will venture away from home to challenge Babcock at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
