Preview: Cedar Creek Cougars vs. Lincoln Prep Panthers
Cedar Creek has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Lincoln Prep Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Cedar Creek beat Ouachita Christian 67-61. The victory was just what Cedar Creek needed coming off of a 71-50 loss in their prior game.
Cedar Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Connor Johnson led the charge by scoring 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Doan, who scored 20 points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, Lincoln Prep came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past St. Frederick with points to spare, taking the game 58-41.
Cedar Creek's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Lincoln Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
Cedar Creek was taken down by Lincoln Prep 67-38 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cedar Creek was down 39-19.
