Soccer Game Preview: St. Petersburg vs. Osceola

The St. Petersburg Green Devils will challenge the Osceola Warriors at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Petersburg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.6 goals per game this season.

St. Petersburg is headed into the matchup without a loss and will look to keep things rolling. Their defense stepped up to hand St. Petersburg Catholic a 2-0 shutout back in December of 2024. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Green Devils were the better team in the second half.

Brady Weimerskirk was the driving force of St. Petersburg's attack as he scored both of St. Petersburg's goals, bringing his season total up to 11 goals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Osceola, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in December of 2024. They were the clear victor by an 11-0 margin over Boca Ciega on Tuesday. Considering the Warriors have won eight contests by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

David Newton, who's played more minutes than anyone else on the Osceola squad sat out for Tuesday's game. With Newton sidelined, Osceola had to make some big changes to the lineup. Three players hit the pitch for the first time this season: Zach Pillion, David Larraondo, and Carlo De Castro. The new lineup might be seeing more playing time going forward considering the group combined for a total of four goals and two assist.

Osceola's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 45 goals over those six matches. As for St. Petersburg, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0-1.
