            Baseball Recap: Manitou Springs Mustangs vs. St. Mary's Pirates        
        
		
        
        
            Manitou Springs won the last time they faced St. Mary and things went their way  on Tuesday too. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp  11-5 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest  victory the Mustangs have posted  against the Pirates since May 20, 2016.
 Maxton Bolster made a splash no matter where he played. He  didn't allow a single  earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He also  tossed  no  earned runs, which is notable because Manitou Springs is 4-2 when he allows at  most  two  earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Bolster was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-4 with two  RBI and one  run.

 In other batting news,  Hayden Martinez was  incredible,  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances with five  stolen bases and three  runs. He is becoming a predictor of Manitou Springs' success: when he posts  at  least two  stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 2-7 when he doesn't).  Preston Rhodes also deserves some recognition as  he  snagged his first  stolen base of the season.
The  win  got Manitou Springs back to even at 7-7. As for St. Mary's, their loss  ended  a  six-game streak of away wins  and  brought them to 9-5.
 Coming up, Manitou Springs will face off against La Junta at 1:00  p.m.  on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (the Mustangs have four straight  victories, the Tigers have five straight  defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field. As for St. Mary's, they will challenge Kent Denver at 5:30  p.m.  on Thursday. The Sun Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven  runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of.
