Baseball Recap: Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They never let the Holy Name Green Wave get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin got a great performance from Jack Montague as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Montague a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Cian O'Boyle was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Stefancin, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Holy Name, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8-1.

Looking ahead, Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin will take on Mayfield at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Holy Name, they will square off against University School at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
