On Thursday, the Banneker Trojans were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 12-6 to the McIntosh Chiefs.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tytianna Ramsey, who rushed for 100 yards on only ten carries. An impressive showing, but Ramsey really ramped things up playing D: she picked up seven sacks and made 11 total tackles.
Even if they lost, Banneker's defense still kept up the pressure with seven sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Ramsey.
A big part of McIntosh's victory came down to the chemistry between Taegan Reiter and her top target Amelia Angier. Reiter threw for 109 yards and two touchdowns while Angier picked up 62 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Banneker now has a losing record at 5-6. As for McIntosh, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.
Coincidentally, both will both be playing Lovejoy the next time they take the field. McIntosh will head out to face Lovejoy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Banneker will play them later in the day, at 5:30 p.m.
