Baseball Recap: New Trier Takes a Loss

New Trier has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.72 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They fell just short of the Evanston Wildkits by a score of 12-10. The Trevians were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wildkits from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

New Trier got a good showing from Mason Jurewicz, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Jurewicz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Trey Meyers led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Caiden Carpenter, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

New Trier's loss dropped their record down to 12-5-1. As for Evanston, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-7.

While New Trier had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
