Elkhart's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout  on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the South Bend Washington Panthers  a   13-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won three matchups by seven  runs or more  so far this season.
 Brennon Whickcar made a splash while hitting and pitching. He  tossed three innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Whickcar was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-2. That's the most  hits  he has posted since back in April of 2024.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Max Shreiner, who  scored three  runs and  stole two bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most  stolen bases  he has posted since back in May of 2024.  Cooper Schoetzow also deserves some recognition as  he  snagged his first  stolen base of the season.
 Elkhart  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .639. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their  OBP total in three consecutive  games.
Elkhart's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for South Bend Washington, their loss was  their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which  dropped their record down to 0-3.
 We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Elkhart is set to  square off against  their familiar foe South Bend Riley  at 5:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Meanwhile, South Bend Washington will  challenge  rival Penn  at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
