Basketball Recap: Meridian Comes Up Short

Meridian lost against Superior back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Meridian Mustangs fell 49-36 to the Superior Wildcats. That's two games in a row now that the Mustangs have lost by exactly 13 points.

Declan Miller was the offensive standout of the contest as he dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Dayne Clark, who posted seven points along with seven boards and six assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Meridian and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Superior, with the victory, they broke their 21-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-3.

Meridian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hampton at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Superior, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-43 defeat against Centennial on the 21st.
