Recap: Jefferson Dragons vs. Plant City Raiders
The Jefferson Dragons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They were outmatched by Plant City at home and fell 40-0. Jefferson has struggled against Plant City recently, as their game on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Chris Denson was his usual excellent self, throwing for 214 yards and five touchdowns while completing 81.3% of his passes. Tony Marshall was another key contributor, gaining 103 total yards and a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Plant City's defense and their three sacks. In that department, Davin Stone-grant was the leader with two sacks.
Jefferson has yet to win a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 1-9 record. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-2 East Bay and 9-2 Tampa Catholic (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 60.2% over those games). As for Plant City, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Plant City will head out on the road to face off against Plant at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Plant is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
