Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Arapahoe's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Arapahoe hadn't done well against Cambridge recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Everything went the Arapahoe Warriors' way against the Cambridge Trojans as the Arapahoe Warriors made off with a 52-30 win. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 22 points or more this season.

Arapahoe found their leader in freshman Suttyn Shafer, who went 7 for 13 en route to 23 points and seven steals. Shafer has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Clara Hilker, who made all 5 shots she took for 11 points.

Arapahoe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Cambridge's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Elisabeth Kubik, who posted seven points and three steals, and Mallory Springer, who scored five points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Arapahoe is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Cambridge, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-8.

Arapahoe will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Alma at 6:45 p.m. on February 4th. As for Cambridge, they will challenge Medicine Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
