Basketball Game Preview: Halstead Dragons vs. Liberal Redskins

The Halstead Dragons will take on the Liberal Redskins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Halstead has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Halstead saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They fell 70-63 to Winfield. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (61), the Dragons still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Liberal was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were outmatched by Haven and fell 66-31. While losing is never fun, the Redskins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 275th, while the Wildcats are ranked 20th).

Despite the loss, Liberal saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Juan Diego posted six points. Alan Olvera also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Halstead has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Liberal, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
